Thai Massage!

To begin with today`s absolut highlight: I had my first Thai Massage in life! No, that THAT kind of Thai massage, but the real one. Details down under 🙂

What else happened? Short night, long breakfast (2hrs), a walk to the Tourist Authority of Thailand and the former King`s residence, Vimanmek Mansion. Wow, quite a palace – if you have enough space you really can live in style!

Oh yes, I succesfully took my first two rides with the public bus system, thus avoiding the tuktuks.

So, what to tell on the details? Tonight I couldn`t really sleep. I awoke at 2 in the morning but didn`t fall asleep any more. The coffee/beer combination of yesterday evening does better than any Red Bull. So I got up at 6.30 after having read couple of pages, went to breakfast with my travel guide under the arm and continued reading there. Hey, that`s the cheapest coffee you can get, because it`s anyway included. And by sitting there for more than 2 hours, I realised that most people come to breakfast around 9 or later.

Walking to TAT for the recommended map wasn`t that succesful. There are a lot better maps around. Anyway, I used the rest of the afternoon to see the King`s residence. Quite a compound – again, with place and money, you can live in style.

But the best was the Thai massage! If you can`t bear it, STOP READING HERE! I do not take any responsibilities for negative side effects of the following description.

OK, you wanted it this way. To follow get the picture, imagine rooms covered by dark red/brownish teak wood, everything very cosy, plants standing around, a light scent of flowery perfume in the air and soft music from unvisible speakers around you. The whole thing very spacious, and for a welcome while you wait for somebody to consult you on the appropriate programm, you get your first cup of tea.

  • First step: Floral foot bath. That means, putting my feet in a big bowl of warm water, some orchids and then – my masseuse washed my feet! That was the last thing I expected! And I am really washing, with soap, brush and the stuff. And now, they were not that dirty 😉
  • Second step: Body Scrub: That is laying down on the huge massage bed and receive a body scrub with fresh coconut and oil. Good bye, old skin! I got scrub from head to feet and back, back and front. That alone made me feel like being new born. Afer an hour or so I had a shower to wash all the coconut off my body and we continued with the next step:
  • Third step: Oil massage: No need to explain this one – just one more hour of relaxation 8-).
  • Fourth and last step: Hot bath tub: I was lead into a different room for that and there it was: a big round bath tube, inside a half round teak wood bank, the oil bath ready made and on top of the water floating houndreds of orchids and other flowers. All of it in a huge stone bath of course. To enjoy my time there, I received another pot of tea and some cookies. Stepping up the stone stairs and sliding into the water was just great. I want a bathroom like that too! Incredible!

Well, needless to say, that while waiting later on for the bill in the reception area I was served tea to fully enjoy myself.

Wow, what an evening!
